Owning a 350 TPI, I can't see the T5 holding up for long behind it. Not with all that low range torque. I don't see anything on your rear gear ratios, but 6th gear is known to be useless at anything less than highway cruising speeds with a rear gear below 3.4x, but if you're running a 3.42, 3.45 and up rear gear ratio it can be used more readily. But if you want a manual a T56 is certainly a good way to go. If its setup right you could see 1800 RPMs at 80 MPH cruising on the interstate. Fuel mileage would be a benefit more than actual performance I'd say.

Oh trust me I know the T% aint meant for the 350 lol but i only had money at the time to put the 350 in im still trackin down a t56, so untill then i havent been beating on the t5 that much but its bean nearly a year since the swap and its holding up well, but I do want the t56 for peace of mind and i plan on putting an lt1 350 in it in a couple of months and theres no way im doing that with just a t5 lol cuz what would be the fun in that? i can still kinda rip and roar with the t5 with my current setup but i wager i wont be able to get away with that with an lt1 with headers and stuff lol
I have the 3.73 gears in mine btw. Im really loving my current setup except for im sick of when i get up to high speeds the engine chokes out like TPI's are apt to do. so now i have my heart set on an lt1 t56 combo. ls1 t56 is just to far out range of my earnings and budget.

Problem I had with that was for every guy who doesn't have problems, there is another who says he goes through 4 T5s in 6 months. So if you intend to drive it hard I would just run a T56.Originally Posted by midias
