its been acting up for a few days really sticking in the 2- 2.5 rpm range for like 2 full seconds under heavy throttle then i went like 15 minutes away today 15 mins back then went to get back in the car started it, started reversing almost stalled but recovered, drove about 100 ft then it started acting bad and sounding bad, pulled in a driveway, looked around seemed fine no leakage, tried to turn around and get back to my driveway, made it like 20 feet then the pedal wouldn't respond to nothing and it stopped rolling and pushed it up to the curb.

what the hell happened?????? seems like tranny failure but is it time for the expensive th350 swap?

note: have had problems with tv cable getting adjusted and kicking down right, throttle body was making noise for last week, sticking around 2k rpms.

its a little difficult to determin what happenned without seeing it personally because i dont kn ow these trannys but i do have a few questions

how does the motor react when these problems occure?

has it ever slipped?

was it ever rebuilt?

have you done any modifications to it?

to me it sounds like it might be a torque converter issue but then again im new to automatics so im not the most knowlegeable on the subject


th350 swap isnt that bad. you can use your cross member and i think you can get a t-arm relocation bracket. the only thing is that you wont have your speedo but if you have a gps you could just use that

 

everything seemed to be fine with the engine other than under lead foot it would stick at 2k and not take off like it should, the tranny started shifting harder and jerked you everytime it shifted, it was an instant shift but it jerks you.
2 days before this i was manually shifting 1 2 D then i'd hit the stop sign try to put it in overdrive D and itd just go into neutral never felt the click for it happened 3 times total.
it never slipped healthy high rpm performance, really poor low rpm performance
i bought it april 3rd i haven't done anything to the tranny but someone else might have

a friend at work has a rebuilt th350 sitting at his shop that he wants to swap with something in his sierra or something, but he doesn't "need" it like i do i could probably get it off of him.

 

doesnt sound promising. my old truck did that same thing.

 

when it happened it didn't leak anything its probably going to sit at my dads shop for the winter. hopefully john boy lets me get that th350 on payments and drop that in b4 winter drive it a little more, got big plans for winter but this might set it back to over next summer with everything i want to do. about to get a car from my dad on payments as well...not looking good
