Automatic to Manual. Need tips

I have a 92 camaro rs with a 30t tbi injection. It has the 700r4 transmission. I have really wanted a stick shift car for a while but always wind up with automatics which is my fault for not looking more. Would it be worth changing the 700r4 to a t5 manual? Or is there a better transmission that i should choose? alos is this a hard swap and what would i need to complete this transformation?

Thank you!

To me it would not be a hard swap. To you? How are you with the mechanical work and some cutting and drilling and some electrical. If that is basic to you it should not be a big problem.
Unless you are hard on the car a T5 should hold up but a T56 would be better.
For a T5 swap get the pedals and hyraulics, bellhousing, trans, flywheel clutch etc for the T5 and except for the drilling, shifter hole cutting, and electrical it should basically be a straight bolt in. For the wiring look at bottom of page 3 on the T56 swap sticky. It covers the auto to manual wiring.
For the T56 swap read just the first three pages. It covers everything real well.

Thanks for the info. Would a manual transmission help the acceleration better than the 700r4.

One thing other than the tranny that would help alot is the rear gear choice. From the factory most had real poor gear choices for a performance driven car. With a T56 and the .50 overdrive you can use a 3.42 or 3.73 rear and have good acceleration and fuel mileage. These cars from the factory had gear ratios like a 2.73 with the V8 and is not very good for performance.
