what ia an a4 tranny? cant find info on it..

 

A = automatic, 4 = forward ratios. Could refer to 700R-4, 200-4R, 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E, 4L75E, 4L80E, 4L85E, 4T40, 4T60E, 4T80E. Ours are typically the 700R-4 in these cars.

 

thank you...all i could find from 8th digit of vin was..that it was a 6 cylinder. and had a metric light duty 3 speed transmission. which makes sense on the highway i let off seems like it sounds like if you were coasting in low 2. so probly 3 speed. owner mentioned a 200 i never heard of it..i have a built 350 in it now and i wonder how it is shifting with the brain box ripped out? werent all them trannys computer shifted? im really wanting to have a turbo 350 built for the motor a real slug off the line..could be the 3,23 gears though also..im trying to get a powerful low end and a nice top end not for the track but for fun..i wanna run from the stop light but not be tacking out motor at 70mph...any ideas would be great..or else ill trial and error it but that can get spendy...thanks

It probably had the 200 c 3 spd auto tranny original. Did they find and put the v8 tranny in it when the 350 swap was done? Very possible.

 

A 92 wouldn't have a TH200-C originally. But one could fairly easily have a TH200-C installed using 1982 parts.

 

If you are going to spend for a built trans, get a TCI 700 r4 you will get better mileage and it is plenty rugged. I have one in the GTA which I abuse regularly.
