9JC
I aim trying to figure out this rearend. The stamp says 9JC.it's in a 85 s/c that had a stock v6mpfi.The rpo for it is gu6.there is no 9JC listed in the book I got.Only 8JC.But the 9 is the easyest number to read out of all of them.Is this thing stock or come from somewhere else?I also noticed my 3 older cars dont have the stabilizer bar on the rearend.there all camaro's.but all 4 firebirds and my 91 rs all have it.the birds are 86's and 1-89

Re: 9JC
When you took the cover off to change the fluid, as any sebsible person such as you are would surely have done FIRST THING when buying a junk rear end, what was the tooth count?
Alot of the lowest base-model type of the first few years of these cars, both Camaro and Bird, didn't have a rear sway bar. Applied to the "chick car" type setups as well, the Berlinetta and the SE. The public simply didn't demand "handling" back then the way they do now. So yeah, pretty common.

9JC is stamped where the ID number is and the repair book has a list of them but this exsact number isnt listed.I do have therpo codes but you know alot of the stock stuff has been changed over the years. In the last 4 months I've picked up 4 cars that I'm still checking out and slowly working on,when not fixin my dayly drivers.I have noticed from 86 on the stabilizer bar is more comon.thanks for the input.
