it has a 350 tbi and a 4l60e trans, the problem is that
When starting from a stop or nearly stopped position the transmission stays in the first gear and the engines revs up to nearly 4000+ RPM and shifts. I can get the trans to shift before that moment by pulling off the gas pedal while moving and the trans then shifts to the nexy gear and the cars then drives normally.
this only happens in first to second gear, any ideas what it could be?

Re: 4l60e 1st to 2nd shift funny
Try shifting it manually.. If you are able to shift manually then you may be lucky and it may just be the 1-2 shift solenoid.. I know this may sound a little unorthodox but check the fuses and also if your instrument cluster is functioning properly.. In my Tahoe the shift indicator wasn't showing and I replaced the fuse and the trans was cured.. lol
Good luck..
Good luck..

I bet the reverse drum is not flat and the second gear band is black burned or I've seen the 1-2 accumulator spring broken.
