Re: need a 700r4 stall

cheap and converters don't go together.. and I'd be real impressed if you managed to even find a used 700R4 lockup converter for $200 if it's worth a crap.

Why did you dump all that money into the motor and not save for a converter? Surely you knew you would need one?

is this your DD? If it isn't, just sit on it and wait until you can afford a good converter.

I'd look into Yank convertors. Not cheap at all, but it will show you how much to save up for. I just bought a Yank SS3600 convertor.

Haven't used FTI, but B&M are junk and their price reflects that. You won't get a GOOD converter for cheap. Period.

Do NOT cheap out on a converter. That's the quickest way to eating a transmission. A high quality albeit expensive converter will save you money by lasting for years. Not months or even weeks as many fall victim to with the low budget converters.

No. There's a few of us on here that have converters in that stall range. I have a 4-4200, but I haven't used mine yet. Get it from someone who builds GOOD converters and you'll be just fine.

It will be a heck of a fun converter.

Circle D converters like the one in the link tend to have a firmer lockup than the other brands. (They don't use springs inside the converter that other companies use) Most people like this sensation.

Re: need a 700r4 stall

I have used 3 B&M converters in my cars and have had luck with them even dumped a 150 shot of gas on 383sbc and that of the shelf 3000 stall B&M converter made it all summer and i whipped it badly.
Was i lucky maybe so,i have heard horror stories about them but as far as i have experienced they worked for me and in your situation with shortage of money i say buy a 3000 stall of shelf B&M it will wake your car up bigtime
Edit: This option is a quick fix to solve your boog problem and get some fun back in your car but these cheap converters are no more than astop gap solution.

Best regards Mats
