700R4 speedo
I have gone thru about 8 page's of post and do not see my ? anywhere. What I want to know is, I am replaceing the trans (700R4) in my 87 Camaro. The trans I have now uses a cable driven speedo, the trans I am installing (700R4) has the electronic speedo. Can I swap out the speedo gears from my 87 trans to the 92 trans to keep my cable driven speedo or do I have to change my speedo and add the wire's for it.
Thanks
Thanks

Take the gears and housing out of your old transmission and put them in the new one.

Re: 700R4 speedo
If your new trans. has a traditional spiral cut speedo gear (and not a straight cut reluctor ring) it takes:
1 bolt for the VSS
4 bolts for the tailhousing
1 clip for the speedo gear clip (if different than the new trans.)
1 bolt for the VSS
4 bolts for the tailhousing
1 clip for the speedo gear clip (if different than the new trans.)
Re: 700R4 speedo
Actually, about 99% of the time, the gear on the output shaft of the trans is the same for both the electric and cable-driven speedos, so all you have to do is loosen up the one 10mm bolt that holds the electric sending unit in the tailshaft housing and just replace it with your cable-driven gear/housing. No need to remove the tailshaft housing at all.
