Just wondering if anyone runs 12 seconds or less in the quarter mile with the factory 9 bolt rear end. I was told I needed a 10 bolt rear, but as i research i found on 9bolt.com that the 9 bolt is stronger than the 10 bolt.
9 bolt does have larger ring gear which means teeth material should increase in size and should support more stress. I have been 9.73 on stock 10 bolt

A 9 bolt should be stronger than a 10 bolt, both being the same condition and OEM parts. Anyone that tells you otherwise is going by the normal go for more bolts on the cover theory.

Great 9 bolt info there.
That being said 9 bolt parts can be hard to come by. I can go to the junkyard and see 1/2 dozen 10 bolts but no 9 bolts here.
When it comes down to it normally ring gear size is where the strength comes from. Large gear means larger teeth and larger pumpkin housing. Look at the Ford 9", Moser 12 bolt, Dana 60. All those have sizes 8.8" or larger.
