Motor mounts don't line up

I'm trying to drop an LM4 into an 86 firebird. I'm using the Hawks motor mount adapters on the crossmember and stock 4th gen mounts on the engine side. I can get the long bolt thru the adapter and engine mount on one side but the other side does not come close to lining up. The hole in the engine side mount is about 3/4" too far out to line up with the hole in the adapter. Anybody else run into this?

I've checked that I bolted the adapters to the crossmember correctly and they match the pictures on Hawks site.

I'm stumped

Re: Motor mounts don't line up

loosen the mounts on both sides and then put the engine in so you can move them about slightly once you put the engine in. Then tighten them up afterwards.

I don't understand why this question comes up so often

Re: Motor mounts don't line up

Because most don't understand you need to assemble components loose and then tighten them. They want to tighten as they go so that last bolt is impossible to install.

Snarky comments aside...

For anyone searching and finding this thread, what did you figure out to make it work?
