i have a 86 T/A it has the L69 H.O. engine with a borg worner 5 speed trans and im thinking about swapping it for a 6 speed from a 92-99 vette anyone know how this would change my torque hp or overall performance? need some info before i spend money on something that wont work.

 

Keep your T5 until you have a stronger engine.

The L69, 3.73 rear and T5 are very well matched with regard to gear ratios.

305 + 3.73 + Vette ZF or MM6 ratio T56 = poorly matched gear ratios.

do you mean a bigger engine or more power? cause i have some work done and i have dyno tested it a 320 hp and almost 350 torque. im wanting to get more mid and top end i feel like in 4th and 5th it loses all its pull

 

If you're losing pull in higher gears, you may want to check into fuel delivery to make sure that's not an issue.

A 320hp 305 is going to make power at a higher rpm range than a stock one. Bottom line is what I stated twice in the first post.

When you get into a 350 or bigger, then consider the 2.6 first gear / .50 sixth gear stuff.
