New clutch. will not go into gear
New clutch. will not go into gear
(Borg Warner T-5)
So, I just put a new clutch, bronze pilot bushing and new pressure plate and a resurfaced fly wheel in my camaro. And some how it wont let me go into gear, to the point where i think the clutch isnt fully disengaging,,, but i can get in any gear when the car is off. I checked my specs on how far the slave cylinder rod is supposed to travel and i was good with that (over .513). I also was watching to see if the throw out bearing was on. and i checked that from the boot.. Trully, its making no sense to why it wouldnt work. clutch was faced the right way. I dont know what trully to look for now.....I dont feel like blaming the hydraulics because (if it worked on the old clutch than why wouldent it work on a new clutch). If any body has any suggestions. please do free to give me an answer to what i may have done wrong. thank you.
Ps.) If pictures would help. let me know and al post

Well I had a similar problem and I've heard similar from others switching from stock, and sometimes different clutches want a bit more travel that the current setup allows. Not sure if it only applies to aftermarket clutches or not. But I took advise from one thread on here to make a longer actuator rod for the slave cylinder and it fixed it perfectly. Added 1/8 inch

There is a thread I cant find with identical problems to yours with that rod extension solution... anyway, the person in that thread had a centerforce I believe and so do I and it seems they just need a little extra movement

Re: New clutch. will not go into gear
One way to fix it, is to put shims under the pressure plate to flywheel (all 6 bolts).
About .010-.015 will do it.
When it wears a little you can remove them.
Some times the marcel is too thick in the disc.
that makes it over .335 thick causing that problem.
So if you have everything else right, try that.
