HELP 1984 TA rear end

I have a 1984 TA that is a standard and had 5 liter HO engine. When that engine died I had a rebuilt 327 installed.

I was looking to get the gears more compatible for the new enginge, but I do not know if I have Posi traction ?

is there a website or anyway to check this without pulling the cover ?

Re: HELP 1984 TA rear end

If it was REALLY a stick/HO car, it should have come with 3.73s.

anyway to check this without pulling the cover ?
Sure... just pull the cover. Not sure what's the big deal about that, seems like every n00b feels obligated to display their n00bness by saying that though. All it does is advertise that you're a n00b.

Go change the fluid, which OBVIOUSLY needs doing anyway, and look at the parts while you're doing it.

The posi rear on the HO has a metal tag under one of the cover bolts.

which is most likely long gone.

like sofa said, pull the cover. Only 100% way to know what diff.
I thought I read there was some kind of issue getting a posi factory on an 84 car. Maybe that was 83?
My 84 HO is 3.73 open.
