Resurface flywheel?

So I had a clutch slipping issue due to the wrong throw out bearing. I am installing the clutch back into the car. T5 swap in a Nova. I only drove it for 3 months and really really don't want to take out the flywheel because it is really really difficult. What you guys think, resurface or buy new one (whatever is needed) or let it ride? Heres a pic.

I really think its not that bad. Had it resurfaced before I put in brand new clutch. There is little bit of burn marks but nothing serious and no rust or anything like that.

Looks OK to me but you already have the trans out to swap the bearing ( and as shown by the pics the clutch disassembled) ,
how hard is it to remove 6 bolts to take the flywheel off for a a 3rd party to inspect?

Re: Resurface flywheel?

The hardest part is getting it to hold still to torque it down to 70lbs spec. So i had to jam something in the teeth and brace it against the frame while wrenching on it by myself. It really wasn't easy. I don't have air tools and wasn't smart enough to figure out a better way to get the flywheel to not rotate (basically engine turn over) while I was tightening the bolts.

Put a screwdriver through the bolt hole for the pressure plate and rotate until it stops on the edge of the block.

Re: Resurface flywheel?

I'd run it...

Even if you resurface it, it'll look about like that again in about 1000 miles anyway.

Past a certain point it turns into "measure with micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with axe".

Re: Resurface flywheel?

If you machine the flywheel, machine the PP.

If it worked in 1st gear without slipping when you had the tall TOB, then just run it.
