I am getting ready to replace the 305 with a 383 stroker engine. My understanding is that the stock 5 speed manual tranny will not hold up to it if I abuse it too much. I am think ing of just converting it to an automatic once I blow the manual tranny. Is this a difficult task or is it simple? It has a 373 limited slip rear in it now.
its a 1986 IROC Z28 with a carbed 305 in it now.

A lot of guys would go for a conversion to T56.
