need help

im in the middle of a rebuild on my nwc-t5 and the bearing on the input shaft needs replacing. can anyone give me ideas how to get the old bearing off. apparently the lazy *** inbreed f***ing ******** machine shops AND transmission shops in Michigan cant be bothered with it.

if someone can do it ill mail you the parts. I really don't want to buy a new one for $75+ exspecially since the shaft itself doesn't need replacing.

Re: need help

If you were closer you could run it by my shop and I'd do it for you. All you need is a bearing seperator and a press. It's not on there real tight.

If you have a MIG welder you might be able to get it off yourself. Cut the cage off and let all of the rollers fall out. Then set your MIG welder on the hot side and run a hot bead all the way around the race. The heat will loosen the race and you can probably use a hammer and punch to drive it off. Just be sure to protect the gear and the rest of the shaft from weld splatter. Just a note of caution. Think about this real hard before you try it. The heat from the weld could affect the heat treat in the shaft and cause it to be weaker. I have used this method many times to remove bearing races and it works pretty well, but you have to consider the effects of the heat on the other parts.
