shifter question

So I'm starting a third gen project but i have a quick question. I purchased an 83Z with manual 5 speed transmission. I noticed that once I get going the shifter bobs up and down continously. Is this common? Or even safe? What causes it? It shifts fine but it's weird to see it move as I drive.

Sounds like your trans mount is broken. New ones are about $15 go get it.

The mount is under the car between the cross member and the transmission
