Flywheel confusion.

Hi!
OK so were are installing an early 350 with TPI in an 85 Olds Cutlass, I have a rebuilt T5 from an 85 camaro, I need a flywheel and am lost on why everything I find shows 83-85 specific flywheel?
Internally balanced small block, 153 tooth ring gear. So why wouldn't any neutral balanced 153 tooth flywheel meant for a 2 peice rm work?
Thanks
Dave

Re: Flywheel confusion.

83-85 flywheels are for engines with the 2pc RMS. Either flywheel will work with the T5, but you need the one that matches your engine. 1pc RMS flywheels were used once that was changed starting in 86.

And that's where my confusion lies, i have a flywheel, machined, 153 tooth, for a 2 piece rear, no idea what year its from, but does it really matter?

I'd add "and the pressure plate".

Yes.

And the 83-85 lightweight flywheels aren't particularly unique.

The L88 in the late 60s used basically the same thing, 153 tooth and scalloped for light weight.
