10 bolt gear swap 4th gen to 3rd gen
I got a 92 camaro and 99 camaro.. just got the motor driving in the 92 yesterday and it bucks real bad in 1st gear (5 speed) but it smooth out in higher gears or if you floor it in 1st. Thinking its the gears as stock is 2.73s. Thinking of taking the whole center chunk out of my 99 that has 3.73s and and put it in my 92 rearend. Anyone know if it will work and fit? Thinking yes since both are 10 bolts. And also my 99 takes 75-90 and my 3rd gen takes 80-90. Once I swap the center chunks do I have to use 75-90 in the 3rd gen?
Re: 10 bolt gear swap 4th gen to 3rd gen
The '92 should have 28 spline axles, the same as the '99, so it will swap. Just remember that you still have to set the pinion depth, backlash and bearing preload when doing this swap. It is NOT just a bolt in job.
There is no difference in the application of 80W90 and 75W90. Most of the time the 80W90 is petroleum and 75W90 is synthetic. Doesn't matter, they will interchange.

So the 90-92 had the same rearend as the 4th gens? I know some 3rd gen rears were shorter then 4th gens
Re: 10 bolt gear swap 4th gen to 3rd gen
No, the rear end is not the same. The width is much different. The '90 to '92 3rd gen uses 28 spline axles and the 4th gen uses 28 spline axles, so internal parts will interchange. The axle length is different.
