Hey everyone, I have a 84 H.O. standard 5 speed and the other day I was leaving home and when I put it into first I started to slowly move and boom, the stick slaps back to neutral. But after I was able to put into first again and everything was okay, but going into 2nd was a little rough. Are there any suggestions as to what causes it, and what I need to do.

Sounds like the little plastic pad piece thing has crumbled to dust on the 1-2 fork, and it's not shifting all the way into 1st.

Part costs like 50¢.

The trans has to be pretty significantly tore down to get to it.

Needs to be fixed right away; can lead to destruction of expensive parts.
