Re: TH350 SHIFTING HARD ?

No such thing as 3.26; posi or not. Gears are ratios of whole numbers (count the teeth); i.e. 3.23 is 42 teeth on the ring and 13 on the pinion (42÷13=3.23076933076923076923...); 3.73 is 41 on the ring and 11 on the pinion (41÷11=3.727272727272727...), and so on.

You don't have any 3.26. Pretty easy to see why.

Any transmission can be set up to shift violently, velvety, or anywhere in between. 350 or any other.

The NEWEST Turbo 350 you can possibly have, is probably older than YOU right now. Which means, it's probably been through ALOT before it got to you.

What was done to it? (what clutches are in it, what shift kit is in it, what modulator do you have, what fluid is in it, what are the clutch clearances, what diameter are all the holes in the separator plate, what kind of check ***** are in it steel or plastic, etc.) Without tearing it down and measuring stuff and all such as that, our guess out here is as good as yours. Gotta clue us in on the history and BOM and what the last builder (and the one before that and the one before that and the one before that and ....)before we can tell you why it is like it is.

Re: TH350 SHIFTING HARD ?

As said, there's like A MILLION little details that affect how a transmission shifts. "Pretty sure it has a shift kit in it" isn't much help. Obviously, it might (or might not) act different depending on that; but there's ALOT LOT LOT of other things that come into play as well.

I'd suggest, if you don't like how it is now, look up somebody that knows transmissions in your area (a "hobbyist" or racer, not a "shop", and ESPECIALLY NOT a transmission shop), and pay them to take it apart in your presence and tell you what they see; and then put it back together in your presence and tell you what they're doing and why. Doesn't matter how much it costs, it'll be worth it in the long run, because then, transmissions won't be a mystery black box to you any more, you'll actually know what's going on.

If anybody tells you non-existent made-up fantasy crap like "3.26 gears", you INSTANTLY know they're either making stuff up out of the blue to snow you, lying, an idiot, or all 3 at the same time. You know INSTANTLY at that moment to ignore every other word coming out of their mouth because they just proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they cannot be trusted. Same if they start up with the "out of a Vette", "LT-1", "about 400 HP", "must be a 350 because it runs too good to be a 305", etc. BS.

Rule #1 of buying used cars:

Never believe A SINGLE WORD out of the mouth of a used car seller, unless you can verify it YOURSELF, WITH YOUR OWN EYES.

Rule #2 of buying used cars:

No matter whether what the seller is saying "seems" reasonable, no matter how much you "like" what they say, no matter how much you "want to" believe what they say, no matter how much of "a good deal" it seems based on what they say, no matter no matter no matter no matter, see Rule #1.

Q: Know how you can tell that a used car seller is lying?
A: His lips are moving

Q: Know how you can tell a used car seller is stabbing you in the back?
A: He's smiling

Re: TH350 SHIFTING HARD ?

Install the 350-1 TransGo Shift kit. They will give you much better part throttle shifts and quick WOT shifts. This will be much easier on the gear train, and the transmission will last longer. Unless the transmission has the accumulators blocked this kit should solve the problem.
