I was removing the fluid from a t-5 WC I just purchased and found the attached part in the fluid. I've never torn down a T-5 so I'm not sure what this part is. I searched this forum and looked through the exploded view of the transmission in the repair guide but could not find anything.

The transmission is a craigslist special so all I know about the operation is "it ran great before I removed it". Once I removed the top cover, the gears didn't look chewed up.

Planning on rebuilding it but just didn't know if this was an oman of things to come.

It's a broken tip off a security torx bit, not a trans. part.

 

The guy I bought it from must have tried to take the bell housing off with the torx bit and broke his bit. I bought the trans with the bell housing still attached.
