T5 mechanical clutch fork movement measurement?
T5 mechanical clutch fork movement measurement?
How many inches of clutch fork movement are required to release the clutch?
I am looking for the distance of the clutch fork travel T5 transmission with 1983 angled bellhousing and matching fork (Manual clutch linkage). I am using a stock Autozone replacement clutch that is new.
I am retrofitting this trans into a 2nd gen Camaro. I had to modify the linkage to match the angle of where the fork comes out of the side of the bellhousing. I have an adjustable rod between the pedal and the z-bar. I reduced the travel from the stock length, because I was concerned that there was too much movement, when I was test fitting. So I figured I would start with less movement so I wouldn’t bend the pressure plate fingers.
I am having clutch release problems (like I do not have enough movement at the fork to disengage the clutch) I am aware there could be other issues causing this condition, but I would like to know if my clutch movement is in the ballpark before I pull it all out and check bellhousing runout etc.
I have done lots of searching on the forum, wasn’t able to find this information. AND, YES, I have my throwout bearing installed correctly (with the spring clips in the correct position)
If anyone knows where I can find this measurement, I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: T5 mechanical clutch fork movement measurement?
I copy or use stock stuff and modify so things operate like stock.
Since your stock linkage has correct travel but wrong line-up, did you measure it for travel pre-modification and verify this was maintained post-mod?
I know that is a RTFM answer. But without pictures, detail of what you modded, or measurements, that is a starting point.

Re: T5 mechanical clutch fork movement measurement?
Stock setup in the 3rd gen gives between ½" & 5/8" at the point the linkage meets the fork. Full disengagement occurs at around 3/8".
Reason the BH is rotated in our cars, is because if it wasn't, and with a straight fork, the clutch linkage would have to go RIGHT THROUGH the gas pedal.
