4L60E doesn't use a cable. It's electronic. ("E")

4l60e im using the factory 86 shifter assemembly thats what i thought but then im not sure how im going to be able to select gears... should i be using the 4th gen shifter assem

Sorry; I was thinking TV cable. Must have got a brain cramp right then.
You prolly want to use the shift cable for your car. Maybe change the shift lever on the trans if you have to; but I don't think you will.

Engine: the bigger the better
Transmission: 700/4L60 in everything
Axle/Gears: wish they were all 4.10's or better

700 and 4L60 have the same dimensions/locations for the shift shafts -- even the threads are the same. All your 86 stuff should attach directly on..... unless -- Depending on which year your new trans is, some of the shift shafts stick out farther (if they have the neutral switch on the side of the trans) -- fyi.
