TH350 valvebody question
So when you run a Hughes manual reverse transbrake valvebody, you do the following mods:
1) Drill .050" hole in direct drum
2) Re-install direct drum using new lip seal on PISON, discarding lip seal on drum
3) Install 17 new high gear clutch springs
4) Discard kickdown band and servo
So if I was to put an automatic valve body back on, with modulator but NOT A KICKDOWN CABLE would the transmission shift up/down automatically ?
I don't understand what the 'mods' above do.
I realize the kickdown cable won't function, but I wouldn't want that on a turbo car anyway.

Re: TH350 valvebody question
Yes, but you will need to use the TransGo 1-2 Performance Shift kit as the inner seal on the direct drum is removed and the TransGo kit will address this. As long as there are not any modifications that were done to the case, you should be fine. Without the "detent" cable it will not downshift automatically, and you will not have engine braking when the shift lever is in the 2 position. I would go in the transmission soon and re-install the band and check out everything while you are in there to make sure everything is ok. The .050" hole that they tell you to do to the direct drum, should not be a problem when using the Orange PR spring (-2) from TransGo on the PR valve.

So what happens if the the valvebody I used didn't have the 1-2 shift kit, or the PR spring ?
Is the Kickdown band and servo just for passing gear, or does it also control downshifting from 3-2, 2-1 when slowing down and coming to a stop ?
What does the 'governor' do ?
Thanks!!
