Hey I am wondering if the car has a spot to locate the hole for a 4 spd manual trans shifter. My 84 z28 has no motor or trans at moment . It originally has the 700r4 thanks any help is appreciated

 

1984 had a T5 transmission

 

I know they came t5 in that year but I'm wondering if anyone has put a 4 spd in place of there 700 r4

 

You should be able to use the 4 speed, Its exactly the same gearbox wise except 5th gear is missing from the extension (tailshaft) housing side.

 

Yes I know that part I have both types of trannies . T5 is in my 84 mcss . Only concern I have is that where the shifter will end up in the floor . T5 is a longer trans by about 3 inches . The 4 spd shifter mounts to the side of trans . Looking for someone that has done it and knows where to chop the floor . Thanks for the replies

 

82 Z28 used a Super T-10, forget the T4. T-10 is nothing like a T5. As for locating the shifter hole, IDK except test fit and see.
