Removing brake booster/master for T5 conversion question

I assume the brake lines need to be disconnected for this? Does the whole unit need to come right out of the car or is there enough flexibility to leave it all connected? I've never pulled a booster before.

When I did mine I never removed the brake booster. I removed the nuts to swap the pedals, but that was it. No reason to remove the booster, just work around it.

You were able to mount the clutch master with that in the way? It looks like a dogs breakfast in there.

You may find it easiest to remove the booster, leaving the MC in place. The brake cables will hold it fine. Either way you'll have to undo the bolts to the booster on the inside to remove/install the pedal assembly.

I also removed the seat and steering column for easiest access to the inside firewall.

I was able to mount the clutch master twice with the brake system bolted in. I am 24 and somewhat flexible still & pretty stubborn. It is defiantly tight quarters in there

It's not required to remove the booster.

Some people see with their hands. Others feel with their eyes. Do what makes you happy if the little extra time pulling the booster out a little makes you more comfortable.
