Engine: L98 stock, Carbed 350
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.27
I need information about a t5 to 700r4 swap.
I have a 92 305 TBI firebird with 700r4 but its in really bad shape, I've found a 86 Trans Am with a t5 in it and the motors been replaced with a 350. What would it take to swap out the manual and put in the auto. I would like to keep cruise control.
Any information would be appreciated, thank you.
edit: also is there anything in particular I might want to check or replace while the transmission is out?

The 700-R4 likes to have torque converter clutch lock-up working. The floor panel, shifter, cables, and steering column should be able to be used from the 92.
You could add the wiring to your 86 ECM and get an equivalent PROM for an automatic (LG4?) Or, the TBI might be a good swap for the 86, using the wiring from the 92. That's more involved. Lots of ways to do it.
