Drivetrain Locking up

So this past January I held a memorial cruise for my father who pasted away in December and of course what's a cruise without some loud (but safe) fun right? Well it was all fun until the next morning I went to leave my house the next morning and the transmission slipped and and made an awful noise and when I drove it home I could only reach a certain speed and it would feel like someone slammed on the brakes, and I've been without a job for a while and busy so I haven't had money to fix it until now, but I've checked the gears in the rear end and they all look fine, no metal shavings or pieces of gears, I have limited tools for lifting the car so I haven't taken the trans out or anything like that but I was wondering if anyone knows what this is or has anyone experienced this before? Help would be so greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Re: Drivetrain Locking up

I would go pull a boneyard 700 r4 and toss it in. With fluid and filter change. Trans change isn't hard just long and filthy job. Haynes manual will take you through all the steps, a trans jack or floor jack would be a big help and can be rented.

Sorry you lost your trans when funds are tight , been there done that no fun.
