All;

Discovered the previous owner left the sheet metal cover flywheel inspection cover off of my Camaro. Goes on the bottom of the bellhousing, between the open bottom of the bellhousing, and the oil pan. The original part number is 10241153. Every search I've done on the site shows the cover has been discontinued. Does anyone have a spare cover for a V-8 T5, or know of someone that makes one, or an equivalent?

It's not hard to make your own. I made one for mine out of a scrap piece of 16 gauge sheet metal I had laying around. I made a template out of cardboard and cut it out with a basic pair of tin snips. Took me about an hour, mostly due to having to crawl under the car to test fit and back out to make adjustments to the shape.

You can do what 92 said; the whole thing isn't real critical about being perfect.

Another option might be, look up the one for 93 - 97 Camaro/Firebird T-56. It's exactly the same except the 2 bottom holes are in a different spot, which you can drill or punch out quite easily.

Re: T5 Bellhousing flywheel cover
I may have found a suitable alternative. It appears it is drilled to work with either the T5, or T56...

I worry, though, since it's totally flat, if it would have a tendency to rattle, since the original has "ribs" in the plate to stiffen it.

The one I made is flat, and it hasn't rattled at all in the 5k miles since it's been installed.

Any idea as to thread/length of the bolts that hold the plate in place? They're missing, too...

IIRC, they are the same 10mm bolts that hold the front body panels on.

While I'm sure I don't have any in-process pics, I may have one of the final piece. Gotta dig through my all my pics and see.

Re: T5 Bellhousing flywheel cover
The screws are 6mm, "std" (not "fine") thread for that size, not sure what # that is; have a 10mm head.

Re: T5 Bellhousing flywheel cover
F2B claimed their cover won't work for a T5...I suspect the hole location is different, but it almost certainly could be modified to fit.

However, searching on thirdgen, I've encountered a different P/N...14036055.

Will this one work? I've found a couple online.

Re: T5 Bellhousing flywheel cover
Looks like that's an 82 cover.
Maybe I can compare 82 to 84 later.

Re: T5 Bellhousing flywheel cover
I had forgotten about 4-speeds being the standard transmission in '82, but maybe the bellhousings are similar.

Thanks for checking!

Re: T5 Bellhousing flywheel cover
It should work; the driver side starter blockoff metal can be trimmed off.
