Making a front bumper cover

I have always wondered if I could make a bumper cover out of fiberglass and if it would hold up over time. I know alot of body kits are made from fiberglass and do OK. Has anyone on here ever made their on? How hard was it to make and what all did you use?

It's not to hard. Just takes lots of time and money to make a proper mold. To make a proper mold you need to use a epoxy resin to make the part, a good tooling gel coat and lots of fiberglass mat. You would want the mold to be at least 1/4" inch thick to hold up. And also finding the split lines for the mold. Just for a good resin system it's going to run you $125-$150 dollars. Glass is about $3.00-$4.00 sqft. Depending on what weight glass you make the mold out of. A good tooling gel coat about the same as the resin in price can find it a little cheaper. And this is just the prices we use at work. I'm doing a splitter for a GTO right now and I'm going to have about $350.00 in it.

do you have any pics of the last one you did. I already have all the resin and fiberglass to make the mold.
