Bent Axel Shaft, what years will swap? possible bent housing as well?
I recently installed a 2002 ws6 limited slip with disk brakes into my 3rd gen. as i was driving home i could tell something was seriously wrong and babied the car till i got home from the shop.
The rear end was from a wrecked Ws6 so the bent axle shaft didn't surprise me but i am unsure if the housing is bent as well?
The only noticeable bent end of the shaft is right at the exposed portion with the wheel studs, and wobbles when rotating causing a whining noise and a thudding noise.
I plan on replacing the bearing and seal but i need a replacement shaft, would a shaft from a 1995 camaro with drum brakes be the same as a 2002 firebird with disk w/o traction control? and would fit appropriately? but if the housing is bent this effort would all be in vain.
i swapped out the 9 bolt i rebuilt for this newer 10 bolt in my 1983 camaro.
Thanks!!

All 98-02 F-body are rear disc. and interchange, including L & R.
When you get the axles out, clamp 2 or 3 foot long straight edges against the housing flanges. Center each so they stick forward and back a foot or more. Check for toe. Then clamp them on and check for camber.
