Possibly found a cheaper alternative to the t56 conversion flywheel
Just need a few confirmations first as I've found a few options.
First is flywheel teeth count.. Pretty sure that's 168 teeth?
Flywheel balance... Neutral balance without a counter weight
Clutch size... 11 inch clutch disk or 10.5 inch??

Re: Possibly found a cheaper alternative to the t56 conversion flywheel
LT1 flywheel is 153 tooth.
The disc is 11" because of the unique presure plate.
There are unlimited options to adapt whatever to whatever.
But LT1 clutches have been reasonably priced a long time. And any fabrication to go custom wipes out the cost advantage of a cheaper flywheel quickly.
Ask more questions. I can answer.

Re: Possibly found a cheaper alternative to the t56 conversion flywheel
I just can't justify spending $600 on a flywheel for the conversion that has nothing special about it other then the fact that it'll allow my transmission to bolt up to it. To use my lt1 clutch and pressure plate with my 76 block 383 stroker I'll need a 153 tooth flywheel with neutral balance that accepts an 11 inch clutch?

No one can tell how your 383 is balanced via the internet. Many are balanced like a 400, which is not neutral balance. Some are balanced neutral.
I can tell you multiple ways to adapt a T56 /clutch / flywheel. However, unless you're saving money by re-using existing parts, the flywheel makes the most sense. You haven't established good reason to forge your own path except that you want to be the old lady in the midas commercial in the 80s that "isn't going to pay a lot for this muffler."
I have a T56 that mates to the G-body or third gen mechanical linkage. I'm telling you, get the flywheel.
Know what I put behind my friend's 408 when his t5 broke? Centerforce conversion flywheel and LT1T56 so he could keep his Denny's driveline
The other options require fabrication, a new driveshaft, taking things in and out to correct things. Start saving gas money now.

Re: Possibly found a cheaper alternative to the t56 conversion flywheel
It's balanced just as a regular 76 350 block with a four bolt main 2 Peice rms. I just spent around 8000 on the paint and body with over 20,000 in this car in the last year or so since I decided to build it pro street rather then keep it as just my drag car. Not only was I trying to save some money on the flywheel but it doesn't have any advantages over a stock flywheel bit the conversion. Hawks sells one that's about 8 lbs lighter then the centerforce for almost 200 dollars cheaper but I just find it hard to believe I can't find a cheaper one when a stock flywheel is usually less then $100.

a 168 tooth flywheel won't fit inside a stock T56 bellhousing, so stick with the 153 tooth one.
