I know I know,I'm back with the stupid questions. I'm sorry.

Anyway,I found the source of my transmission leak,and it's the output shaft seal. When I was under there I was checking out the drive shaft to see how I could disconnect it from the yoke,and there's no normal fasteners to break loose. The "fasteners" are completely flat and sit flush with the spider coupling. How does this come apart?

 

You don't remove it like that. Look at the rear end, you will have 4 bolts holding U joints to rear end. 7/16" wrench size. Remove those, push driveshaft foward so U joint cups comes out of rear end pinion. Now just slid the slip yoke and driveshaft out of the end of the trans.

 

an 11mm wrench fits the bolts on the rear end yoke a little better.. just pull those 4 bolts out and pry the u joint out of the yoke with a big screwdriver, then slide the shaft out of the trans... make sure you have a drain pan under the rear of the trans in case it leaks.

 

Check the DS yoke for "apple coring", if none the bushing should be ok and a seal r&r should b ok.

 

And mark the driveshaft before you remove it, so you don't put it back 180* opposite of how it came out. This can cause vibrations. Not always, but better safe than sorry.

 

Some GM transmission yokes have a vent hole in the center of the splined bore. I've seen ATF leak out of this hole. I don't think F-bodies have these vented yokes, but it doesn't hurt to check. I think this might be a truck-only thing (?).

The correct way to fix this kind of leak is to pull the extension housing and replace the o-ring that's located inside the output shaft sleeve.
