Still in the process of building my Iroc. I have a T5 tranny that I plan to use in the car. So the question is, do I need a VSS? According to the guy that programmed my chip, he says yes I do, so I found this one on Ebay, but I'm not 100% sure it will work. I was wondering if I could get some insight on what I actually need. Including pics.
This is what the Ebay Seller responded back to me:
Some T5s have an electric VSS, and some have provisions for a mechanical speedometer. If yours is setup for mechanical, then yes, this will work on the transmission. Whether the signal is what you need will depend on what type of ECM you are using.
If you go to User CP, and Edit Your Details, you can add car information. This puts car info under your user name on the left in your posts, which makes it far easier to answer your questions accurately.

If you have EFI, you have a VSS already. Camaros 1984-89 will generally have an optical VSS mounted to the back of the speedometer, as long as the car has fuel injection or cruise control. 90-up have a VSS in the transmission tailshaft instead of a speedometer cable.
