700R4 selector arm

Im currently looking for a selector arm and cable mount for the 700R4 transmission I just put in my 84' Berlinetta. I found the piece that mounts the cable to the trans but I cannot find the selector arm that the end of the cable mounts to. Anybody know what vehicles might share these same parts? Im hitting the junkyard next week and theres alot of different stuff out there. Just don't know where to look. Also, im buying this trans cooler line setup off ebay. Anybody ever bought something like this before? did they fit good? http://www.ebay.com/itm/272424846021

Thanks,
KT

Re: 700R4 selector arm

You mean you need the piece that bolts to the selector on the transmission? Anything 700R4 without a column shift should have what you need.

The repro tubes are hit and miss. They usually have a "shipping bend" or two in them if they're very large so that they're fit in a reasonably sized box. In theory you carefully roll the bend straight and install. In real world experience, they usually take a bit of set in the bent condition. Without anchors to hold the tubes in place they sometimes want to spring back to the shipping bends. Also you may find that the bends aren't exactly optimal. You may have to tweak some of the bends and dimensions to make repro hard lines fit correctly. If you can find a used OE set that haven't been mangled in removal, they'd probably fit better.

Re: 700R4 selector arm

Okay I have a new problem. The shift arm and cable mount bracket I pulled from the yard are out of a mid 90's firebird (rounded newer body style) that had a 700r4 in it. The shift cable in my 84' berlinetta would not fit in the mount until i ground some metal out of the hole. Otherwise i think it will work. As for the shift arm, it had a metal stud on it for the cable to pop onto rather then a hole for the cable to bolt into. My 84' shift cable has a threaded stud on the end so its supposed to bolt in. I tried to modify the arm by drilling out the stud. With the shifter in park and the transmission in park, the end of the cable is no where near the arm. I found an arm that takes a threaded stud in the yard today out of a late 80's, early 90's firebird (boxy body style). I think thats the arm im after. I would've gotten the cable mount too but it and the cable were gone already. Im gonna go try these parts quick, if it doesn't work what do i do next? Is there a good cheap aftermarket shift arm and cable mount anyone has tried?
