DIY Clutch replacement

In no way do I endorse Rockauto however...
Clutch kit: $60.79 Flywheel $53.79 + Shipping and handling + RTV gaskets + Threadlocker + ECT Anyquestings good none. Next I present poetry in motion! Lighter flywheel car makes more power! I did this with jack stands!

Few things beat the feeling of accomplishment from tackling a job that seems tough and seeing it through to successful completion.

Re: DIY Clutch replacement

Well I mean I made a jack stand out of 3 2X4 pieces, 10 screws, 4 metal brackets and 15 minutes of my time and less work to do when I install a T56. As you can see the trans cross member is wasted on this cruddy T5

Re: DIY Clutch replacement

Nice job! I did my very first clutch replacement last year when I had the T-5 in my car rebuilt. Getting the input shaft to align with the pilot bushing was the worst part of the job. Now that I've seen the wooden pad you made for your jack, I'm going to remember that the next time.

Thanks for sharing that.

Re: DIY Clutch replacement

Another tip trim some excess metal from the shifter hole/tunnel/housing on the rear edge. It makes it easier to align the transmission up and down so the shifter housing on the tranny doesn't rub the shifter hole on the body when you install the tranny.
