There are three sets of crossmember holes on 83-92 third gens I believe. I don't recall if the front two might be able to be used.
As for LS /LT, the LS bellhousing is about 16mm deeper, the rest of the trans. is the same. The distance you're dealing with is greater than that amount.
Tony, i have a Spohn crossmember and Alston SFCs also. to get my xmem to lay flat on the frame i red on here to notch it around where the SFC mounts to the car.
Who makes that crossmember? Check out this thread for pictures. See if it helps. You may have the wrong crossmember. And I wouldnt do the plate you are talking about. It will raise the angle of the driveline which will throw off the pinion angle. For the cost of a new crossmember, Id just buy a new one and be done with it.
I believe I have this same cross member. What are my options and what cross member is this?? I have the same issue right now with my swap. My trans mount won't line up.
