700R4 noise from N to D

Hello!

I have a 86 Camaro with SBC and my 700R4 has same noise by shifting from N to D. Could you help me to determine the problem?

Thank you.

Sounds like normal drive line backlash to me.

Re: 700R4 noise from N to D

If you still have the original, 1986 model year transmission in your car, harsh engagement is normal.

I recall GM made some modifications to the 700R4 for the 1987 model year to address this. I misplaced my notebook where I jotted down the particulars...
