posi rear end concerns 89 GTA
Need help diagnosing my 9 inch. My POSI traction is not working. I have not had this car for long. I change the oil and added limited slip additive. I was hoping this would help, but for not. I have no noise but I will be change the axle bearings soon. The right axle has a little up/down play. I don't know if this would effect the Limited slip function. Right tire lefts a mark, Left is not.

Do you have a 9 inch Ford?
I'm assuming that you meant to say a 9 bolt. If this is the case then the Borg Warner limited slip differential is worn out and needs to be reconditioned. This requires some machine work, shimming and sometimes new cones. No oil or additive is going to fix this.

yes I do mean 9 bolt, my mistake. I have been out for a while. Have been looking for BW diff parts and no luck. 9bolt.com website is the only place I may have some luck.

What I would do if I had a 9-bolt:

Some additional notes:

The stock friction cone posi units in the 9-bolt aren't known for great service life.
