700r4 dipstick issues?
I have been having a hard time keeping the dipstick gasket in my 700r4 from leaking. It keeps breaking the gasket no matter what I have tried. Has anyone had this same problem? What helped? Anyone switch to a new setup like the braided dipstick setups ive found. Let me know
thanks

At the base of the dipstick where it goes into the transmission?
Is the tube anchored to the bellhousing bolt?

It is a flexible material, so for breakage to occur, it would need to be cut by the tube, or heavily squeezed out of shape by a misshapen or ill fitting tube.
Is this a case of definite third gen parts, or "what was lying around and available"?

The dipstick is not connected to anything. That's the way it's always been and I've never had a problem with it until recently. Definitely not a case of parts laying around I would be buying the braided dipstick setup to keep the pressure off of the gasket and keep it from breaking again since the hard tube keep braking them.

I would add a support, after verifying the tube isn't leaning too far in one direction . Normally, it's at a bellhousing bolt, but one could be done at a rear cylinder head bolt hole instead, which can be reached from up top.
