Oil leak at speedometer cable?
I'm assuming this is my speedometer cable? Have had a slight leak of transmission oil for a while now, and looks to me like this is where it's coming from. Is that even possible, or is it more likely it's trailing from somewhere further forward and coming down in this area? Always oil left on the dipstick, but goes down to the "add 1 qt" mark.

Yes it is possible.
There's a seal inside the speedo gear housing that seals around the shaft of the gear, and an O-ring around the outside of it.
Not sure whether the seal is readily available separately. Best thing to do is usually to replace the housing. Make sure you get the right one for whatever gear ratio (tooth count) you have.

gm 10456088 or 10456089, standard motors sc12 34 to 39 tooth driven gear and sc13 40 to 45 tooth driven gear. If it's not leaking through the electrical connector there is a o-ring on the body that can be replaced.

this is the part the auto shop replaced. still leaking trans fluid. did they replace the wrong item or can it be leaking from someplace else
