Torque converter switch help on 86 trans am 700R4

ok to start there is nothing wrong with my transmission. shifts great and I have overdrive.... and also it is a very well built transmission and torque converter from PATC. and overdrive works great.

now to the question. I would like to have a torque converter lock switch and I have been searching for weeks now on how to wire it... the couple I have found says this: I will simplify what I have, and I followed the steps as it directs unless I just don't understand it...

I have a 2 prong switch I mounted on the center console.

I have 18 gauge wire both a couple of feet. (its plenty long)

I connected one wire from prong one on switch to ALDL (F) which is top Left. i didn't cut the wire instead i had a Blue Bridge connector(i think that is what it is called... you know the connector that has a flat metal piece in the middle and you clamp it on both wires and the metal piece pierces the isolation and connects the 2 wires without cutting them. )'

i have the other wire connected from the switch to ALDL (A which i believe is ground.) now that is all the instructions told me to do... well i tried it and nothing happens... am i suppose to supply power to ALDL (F) or is it suppose to go to the ground ALDL (A)?

everything works just like normal like i didn't do anything, overdrive still kicks in when suppose to etc. etc.

than as i was doing research i found a thread that stated that doesn't work with TPI and i need to use like the light blue wire from the brake switch. not sure if that's true or not, nor do i know what the blue wire does, ive been looking for that too with no luck..

so am i suppose to just put power to ALDL (F) the TCC or am i suppose to ground it out?

please help. thank you.

Ok so read I don't add power I ground it.... But still can't figure what wire to ground... Do I do it off the all or go off the wires from the brake switch?

I'm not the world's greatest when it comes!es to understanding wiring diagrams and stuff..

Ground at the ALDL connector pin F (TAN/BLK) to lock the convertor. Note that with that pin un-grounded and key-on, engine-off, there should be +12 volts on it.

If there isn't then start at the brake pedal switch, PPL & PNK/BLK wires. They should both has +12 volts on them.

If the PNK/BLK wire doesn't have +12 V, then check the GAGES fuse.

If the PPL wire doesn't, then either the switch is bad or out of adjustment.

If they both have power then check the connector at the transmission.

Ok I have power at the aldl (f) and I have it just going to a ground... Instead of the ground your saying splice the aldl (f) to the lock converter?...

What wire is the lock converter?

god I feel retarded

To activate the lockup solenoid ground pin F on the ALDL connector. Is it a lockup trans and convertor?

Yes I believe so... When I'm in overdrive and I tap the brakes it unlocks

How do you know that your converter is locked up? Could the converter be locked up all the time by mistake? Car idles fine. I have to set the idle at 1300 rpm in order for the car not to stall. When I put it in gear the engine goes down 700 rpm and almost stalls. Kind of like the converter is locked up.
