T56 touching the tunnel
T56 touching the tunnel
Hey guys i was wondering if anybody else has had this problem. I have a 1988 camaro iroc convertible. Originally a 305 tpi 700r4 car i swapped in a built 400 sbc and a t56. When i mounted the t56 and bolted in the Crossmember from spohn. It seems the t56 has 0 clearance between it and the tunnel in some areas. For a brief moment i had the motor in there with the 700r with no issues so i know the motor it's sitting right.

Where exactly is the transmission making contact with the underside of the car? What engine mounts are you using and did you confirm that the crossmember AND mount are the correct parts for your application?

Re: T56 touching the tunnel
I imagine motor/trans is sitting slightly too far back. Is it the bell housing that is sitting against the car?
Re: T56 touching the tunnel
Yeah all the holes lined up right on the Crossmember and trans. I noticed when i started tightening my Crossmember bolts down and the bolts got a little snug and the was still a little gap between the Crossmember and the body. So i finished tightening down. Tried to run wiring over the top of the tranny from the hole i cut in the floor and There was no room
