What gear ratio is in my 87 IROC 5.7TPI?? I have heard 3.23. Is this accurate? Someone even told me stock they came from the factory with 3.42's

Only the 5-speeds came with 3.42/3.45 gears. Your 87 should have a borg warner 9-bolt rear end, and it could be 2.77 or 3.27 ratio. Do you still have the RPO code sticker in your center console? Look for codes that start with G and plug them into the RPO Decoder on this website.

Or if you don't have your RPO sheet, with an auto get in D or 4th with a manual and do 70 mph. If your tach reads 3230 rpms then you have 3:23s and so on.
Oh, and your sign., you say you beat a GN and lost to one, was it the same car. Just wondering how you beat one of those aren't they 13s stock?

When my friend was 'staging' his turbo he beat me by a car lenght. When he did not 'stage' i ripped him until about 60 mph, then he stayed a car length behind until the light. Yeah, i was very surprised and so was he. I don't know, something about this car is weird... it is very fast from the factory.
