Re: TNT fabricated 8.8 rear
I am. Only issue I had was they powder coated over my fill level plug and basically caused it to strip. Then the axles from dutchman were the wrong size with the PN given from TNT because there are two different carrier sizes, so I had to grind down the axles a little.

Re: TNT fabricated 8.8 rear
I think I found the answer to my own question. the only difference in the carrier housings is the pin size that locks the axles in place. mustangs and rangers used a 3/4" and the explorer's have a 7/8". that would explain why the axles needed to be ground for clearance since TNT recommends using the explorer housings

Negative. I used a complete assembly from an Explorer with factory 3.73. There are 2 different types of explorer differential pin sizes that go through the carrier... I guess if it were a warranty repair, they installed the new differential with the larger pin. All you have to do is when you take the rearend apart and sent it out to TNT, prior to ordering your axles from Dutchman, use a micrometer and measure the pin size.
Ask me know I now know... Basically larger pin uses a smaller button on the axles, otherwise you are unable to get the pin back in between the axles upon assembly. I just hard to grind the button down a hair to be able to install the pin. I posted in online and I guess there is one other guy who had to do the same.

Re: TNT fabricated 8.8 rear
I'm glad that I have not found any complaints on the TNT 8.8 itself. I will check my pin size since I too bought a complete explorer with 4.10 LS that I'm rebuilding and reusing.
