Proper Burnout proceedure with 700R4
I hope I posted in the right section.
My mopar with a 727 had a little different proceedure with Slicks
and a manual valve body you started in 1st quickly shifted to 2 and 3rd and then rolled forward, total time for burnout was 15 to 20 seconds. this was to prevent damage to the sprag in the trans you couldnt leave it in 1st or you would harm the trans
MY QUESTION
Does it hurt to leave it in 1st for the complete burnout with the 700R4? I only want to do a 5 second burnout with Nittos, since they dont need a long burnout.
WILL IT HURT the trans leaving it in 1st or do you need to shift to 2nd and roll out of the box.
I"M ASKING for EXPERINCED trans mechanic or drag racers, Please no off comments

A quick 1-2-3 burnout should do it.
A 1st gear burnout won't get the tires hot enough
especially on the first run of the day.
After that a dry hop may be all thats required for following runs.
Air pressure will be critical.
Yu'll just have to experiment.
