I recently had the rear of my car up on jacks and turned a wheel and realised that the wheel on the other side was turning in the same direction, I had always assumed I had an open diff cause I often get stuck on the very bottom of my steep driveway if I dont take it at the right angle at which point my right side rear tyre will spin while the left side doesn't. By my understanding if it were an lsd obviously this wouldn't happen. Any ideas ? I don't really know much about diffs. Thanks.

 

You are correct in that it is limited slip. However, just HOW MUCH it limits slip depends almost entirely on how worn the friction discs are. It's probably worn out enough to be pretty much an open diff with much of any engine power applied.
