91 camaro transmission issues

hello
i dont knowexactly how to explain the symptoms of my transmission but i try.
it is the original automatic transmission came in the 91 camaro.

first thing: if the engine is at normal operating temperature and i shift to reverse sometimes the engine dies without any codes from the computer
second: in traffic when i release the brakes from a stop and let the car go with idle speed sometimes it feels like the transmission is stuttering and it sounds like clunk clunk clunk from under the car

while im driving everything seems fine.
all gears are working and overdrive too

maybe someone can help me out

Re: 91 camaro transmission issues

For your item #2 , check the universal joints in the driveshaft , and there are a whole bunch of possibilities for #1 , too low of an idle speed , tune up needed , etc ....

Re: 91 camaro transmission issues

The first thing I would look for is a vacuum leak.
