Vehicle speed sensor

I have a 1989 irocz Camaro and I am Having trouble finding the vehicle speed sensor. From what I seen people are saying it’s at the end of the trans, I looked and I don’t see wires or a connection. Does someone have a picture or can give me a better description of where to look? Would appreciate it a lot thank you.

Re: Vehicle speed sensor

Look on the drivers side of the trans tail shaft housing. Its a circular sensor with a small pigtail attached.

Re: Vehicle speed sensor

82-89 Camaros had speedometer cables. They thread onto the left side of the tailhousing.

Within the speedometer assembly is a magnetic VSS. They seldom fail. Bolted to the back are wires that go to a VSS buffer that feeds the ECM.
